With online school here to stay the kids are on devices a lot which means everything needs to be charged all of the time. Instead of having charging cables floating around the house we decided to create a charging station for all of the kid’s devices. Not only is this helpful with keeping everything charged it makes it easy for kids to find the device they need.
We did a lot of research to find a setup that would work for the number and size of devices we own. There aren’t a lot of marketed charging stations for a family with 4 kids and multiple devices for child. So I looked on Pinterest for what teachers use in their classrooms. We needed something that would hold an iPad with a large protective case, something that didn’t take up a lot of counter space and something that would be easily accessible for all children. We finally decided on this wall file organizer from Amazon. It allows us the charge and store our iPads, Amazon Fire Tables, Nintendo DS and headphones.
The 8 Pocket Wall File Organizer is open on the sides to allow for charging cables and has 5 small hooks on the bottom for our headphones. Joe used different screws than the ones that came with it. He used wall anchors because he knew with all the kids taking devices in and out there would be a lot of strain on the screws and drywall. With 4 boys we need things to be very durable. We also bought this power strip and longer lightning cables so all of the chargers could be in one spot and cords long enough reach all the devices.
We use these iPad Cases which are great for kids because they are durable, have a handle and have a built in stand. The boys have used their Amazon Fire Tablets for several years and they are great. We don’t use them much for school work but they have a lot of fun games, books and videos for hours of entertainment. They also have a Nintendo DS each with some of our favorite games like Luigi’s Mansion, Animal Crossing and Super Mario Maker.
