I know most school age children have returned to school this week but my middle 2 boys still have 3 more weeks of break. Their year-round school schedule combines winter break and winter track out which means they are out of school for a very long time. I’ve always enjoyed year-round school and track out but the winter break is always the hardest. It’s the longest break and often the weather isn’t the greatest which makes finding affordable kid-friendly activities more difficult. Whenever possible I try to get the kids outside and that’s easy when the weather is warm but January weather in NC is unpredictable. One week it will be in the 70s and the next it’s in the teens. Fortunately, this week we’ve had fairly mild weather so we’ve been able to get out and explore our city.
I’ve compiled a bucket list of things for us to do in our town on our winter break. The list has a little bit of indoor, outdoor, free and not free activities. Hopefully it will spark some ideas of things you can do at home during your winter break.
