Visiting the Orlando Science Center

My four boys love anything to do with science, so visiting the Orlando Science Center on our most recent trip to Orlando was a no-brainer.

With the help of our Marbles Kids Museum Family Passport Membership we were able to get free admission to the Orlando Science Center during our family trip to Florida earlier this year. The Orlando Science Center is a member of the Association of Science and Technology Centers, with over 300 science centers and museums worldwide. Members of the listed science centers or museums can gain free or discounted admission to most science centers through the reciprocal agreement program.

I always check my reciprocal membership programs before we visit a new destination to see if we should visit any participating locations.

The Orlando Science Center has four levels of interactive exhibit halls that will give everyone a hands-on experience they will love. We started in KidsTown, perfect for young explorers, with tons of building, climbing, and exploring. The boys loved Orange Grove, which walked them through growing, harvesting, and selling oranges. They also love climbing around Climb Time, a huge indoor climbing structure with many little spots to explore. The Drip Drop Splash area had amazing water features that were fun for all ages. And Explore It allowed the boys to mix art with science and much more.

Of course we had to visit Dino Digs on level 4. My little paleontologists loved all the huge fossil exhibits but really love the dino dig pit area. Abel was beside himself when we saw the giant T-Rex and triceratops.

Our Planet is also located on Level 4 and give kids interactions with weather and earth science. We got to simulate hurricane force winds and an earthquake, we played with fog, pretended to forecast the weather and tour the solar system.

Nature Works, located on Level 1, gave us a glimpse into the native Florida wildlife. We learn about swamps, coral reefs, and many of the animals that call Florida home.

The Kinetic Zone on Level 2 was a dream for our budding engineers. With rockets, pulleys and circuits to play with they could have stayed here all day.

The Orlando Science Center had so many fun exhibits that allowed kids (and adults) to discover new things about this amazing world we live in. I know Joe, and I had just as much as the kids on our visit to the science center. I highly suggest visiting the Orland Science Center if you’re in the Orlando area. We didn’t get to see or do everything they had to offer, but it was worth the excursion.
