Uglydolls – Movie Review

·

When my oldest son was a baby we collected a few Uglydolls, despite their name they are actually very cute stuffed creatures that are fun and quirky. When I heard they were making a movie about Uglydolls I was pretty intrigued.

Uglydolls is a sweet and fun movie that kids will find fun and heartwarming. I took my son Noah to see the movie and he really enjoyed it. At first he was concerned that there was a “bad word” in the title because he knows it’s not kind to call someone ugly. But by the end of the movie he was really happy with how it turned out. The overall message of the movie is really great for both children and adults. I think some parents might have a hard time with some of the mean insults that characters make to each other. But I don’t think anything was inappropriate and overall it gave me a great opportunity to talk to my son about the impact our words can have on other people.

With a headlining cast of famous musical artists like Kelly Clarkson, Nick Jonas, Pitbull, Blake Shelton and Janelle Monáe the musical numbers are all really fun and well done.
