During the boy’s winter break I made a point to take each of them on a solo mom/son date. I think it’s important to spend one-on-one time with your children whenever possible. With 4 boys I don’t get to spend a lot of one-on-one time dedicated to just hanging out with each boys, it has to be something intentional.
For out Mother/Son Date I took each boy out to lunch. They each got to choose the type of food or restaurant but we made sure that each location had the opportunity for us to get milkshakes as dessert. This ensured that each boy had a unique experience but they all got similar items. At this point they all want the same thing the others get, but I wanted them to have different experiences so we compromised a bit. I think as they get older and their tastes change they may choose totally different activities or foods, but for now they want everything to be the same.
We have several more mother/son dates planned for the near future and I’m so excited for all of the great ideas I have. Here are a few of my favorite mother/son date ideas.
Some of favorites from this list include going to the arcade, a picnic in the park, playing card games at the coffee shop and a selfie scavenger hunt.
I love these ideas! I just wrote a post about spending special time with my son, I’m saving this to look back on later! http://thekriegers.org/2019/02/father-daughter-dance/
