Simple Dinosaur Themed Party

· · · ·

For Abel’s 4th birthday I knew I wanted to do a dinosaur theme. He has been obsessed with dinosaurs for a long time so it was a pretty simple decision. However, he didn’t really have any opinions about what to do or even who to invite. When you’re 3 (almost 4) you don’t typically have a huge social life. So kind of last minute I threw together a simple dinosaur party for my paleontologist preschooler.

For the cake I ordered a simple chocolate cake with chocolate icing (no decorations) from the local grocery store. I topped the cake with crushed up Chips Ahoy and some of his little dinosaur toys.

For decorations, I bought a number 4 balloon, let the boys hang some streamers, and used store bought Jurassic World party supplies of plates, napkins and table cloth.

I bought dinosaur themed snacks like Jurassic World Cheezits and Jurassic World cookies. Then I filled in with some pretzels and juice boxes.

By far the favorite part of the party was the Treasure Quest Backyard Miners Party. A local gem and fossil mining store offers birthday party packages that you can do at home. The package includes buckets, sifters, identification guides, treasure bags and a bag filled with dirt and mining treasures. We selected the beachcomber treasure sets where we knew we would find ocean fossils, shells and sharks teeth.

Even though the weather was a little cool we had a great time searching for treasure. We also had mini geodes for each of the kids to crack open. Each kid got to take any of the treasures they found home with them.  Read more about our Treasure Quest Backyard Party.

It was a perfect day playing, eating, and celebrating Abel’s 4th birthday.
