I’ll be honest, I wasn’t too impressed with the first Planes movie. It was entertaining for the kids but I sort of felt let down as I was expecting Cars level material and it just didn’t live up to my expectations. So going into this new Planes movie, “Planes: Fire & Rescue” I had pretty low expectations.

I was pleasantly blown away by this film. It was far superior to the first Planes movie and had a very compelling and engaging story that was entertaining for children of all ages. Not only was the story great but it the cast yielded some great names such as Julie Bowen, Curtis Armstrong, John Michael Higgins, Fred Willard, Patrick Warburton and Erik Estrada!

Jude really enjoyed the action packed movie that left you feeling great and had some funny moments scattered throughout the film.

The film seemed appropriate for most children. I think my 3 year old would have enjoyed the movie. There aren’t any scary or intense scenes that might be overwhelming for young children. The overall story of the film tells what it means to be a true hero and pays tribute to real life heroes.

SYNOPSIS
“Planes: Fire & Rescue” is a new adventure-comedy about second chances, featuring a dynamic crew of elite firefighting aircraft devoted to protecting historic Piston Peak National Park from raging wildfire. When world-famous air racer Dusty (voice of Dane Cook) learns that his engine is damaged and he may never race again, he must shift gears and is launched into the world of aerial firefighting. Dusty joins forces with veteran fire-and-rescue helicopter Blade Ranger (voice of Ed Harris) and his courageous team, including spirited air tanker Dipper (voice of Julie Bowen), heavy-lift helicopter Windlifter (voice of Wes Studi), ex-military transport Cabbie (voice of Captain Dale Dye) and a lively bunch of brave all-terrain vehicles known as The Smokejumpers. Together, the fearless team battles a massive wildfire and Dusty learns what it takes to become a true hero. Directed by Bobs Gannaway (“Secret of the Wings”) and produced by Ferrell Barron (“The Fox and the Hound 2”), “Planes: Fire & Rescue” hits theaters in 3D on July 18, 2014.
