Del Monte Southwestern Tomato Kick Off Sweepstakes

Today is the Super Bowl and what goes better with a night of football than a giant bowl full of chili?

Del Monte has 2 new varieties of Southwestern Diced Tomatoes that provide the perfect kick for your Super Bowl party; the Del Monte Petite Cut Diced Tomatoes with Green Chilies and the Del Monte Petite Cut Diced Tomatoes with Chipotle Chilies.

I have the perfect paleo-friendly, bean-less chili recipe for your Super Bowl dinner that uses the new Del Monte Diced Tomatoes with Chipotle Chilies!

Ingredients

• 2lbs- ground beef
• 1 medium onion, chopped
• 2 cloves garlic, minced
• 1 cup celery, chopped
• 1 cup carrots, chopped
• 2 tbls chili powder
• 1 (28oz) can diced tomato (use 2 – 14oz Del Monte® Petite Cut® Diced Tomatoes with Chipotle Chilies)
• 1/2 cup water
• 1.5 tbls cocoa
• 1 tsp cinnamon
• 1 tsp cumin
• 1/2 tsp salt
• 1/2 tsp pepper

Directions

1. Over Medium-High heat cook Onions and Garlic until tender
2. Add Carrots and Celery and cook for 1-2 minutes
3. Add Ground Beef and brown until thoroughly cooked
4. Add Ground Beef mixture and remaining ingredients to a large pot or slow cooker and simmer on low for 1-4 hours.

We like to top our chili with avocado or serve over a baked sweet potato.
