Misunderstandings: How to Make Banana Bread Soup

Exhibit A: Properly Made Banana Bread

When Joe and I were first dating I decided to make him some homemade banana bread. It was my first time making it so I printed out a recipe I found online to make sure it turned out perfect. Well, it turned out less than perfect, it was down right terrible. In fact, we now refer to my creation as Banana Bread Soup.

Banana Bread Ingredients
  • 3 or 4 ripe bananas, smashed
  • 1/3 cup melted butter
  • 1 cup sugar (can easily reduce to 3/4 cup)
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour (OR in my special recipe 1/2 cup of all-purpose flour)
Mix all the ingredients together. Note the mixture looks a bit runny but figure that’s normal. Bake in the oven for an hour and immediately throw away.

TIP for making real banana bread: Make sure the entire recipe is visible while adding the ingredients. That extra cup of flour makes all the difference when making bread. Who Knew?
