I spend a lot of time on the computer and to be honest I get tired of typing. I’m not the fastest typer and usually make many mistake. Sometimes it would be simple to just say what I’m thinking and have someone miles away hear me. I know what you’re thinking… just call them silly. To that I say, time zones, international long-distance fees, busy lives, etc… you get the picture.

Video conferencing is a wonderful tool but sometimes it would be nice to send a video message to a friend or loved one. Well thanks to MailVU you can, and it’s super simple. All you need is a computer and webcam. The program is integrated into the website so there are no applications to download. And it works with almost any computer, operating system and browser. Jude and I recorded a message and sent it to Joe while he was at work. It was super easy and only took a few minutes. (I did encounter a compatibility issue while using FireFox on my Mac but every other computer and browser I used worked great.)

Based in Charlotte, NC MailVU is a free site that allows you to connect with friend and family around the world via video email. The service is completely private between the people. Videos are not public like YouTube, and mailVU allows the user to set a self-destruct time frame on number of views or days.
