Simon Edward (9 months)

Simon9mo Simon’s personality is starting to come alive. He’s sweet, curious and completely fascinated by his brothers. He puts up with a lot of “love” from his brothers, especially Noah who likes to make Simon cry for the sole purpose of comforting him. Even though Simon can’t defend himself yet I’m sure it won’t be long. He’s almost as big as Noah.

Stats from his doctor visit last week:

Length: 29 inches
Weight: 22lbs

Food: He’s still pretty much exclusively breastfed. He is exploring solid foods some baby foods, some regular food. At this point it’s just for discovery and less about eating. He likes feeding himself so I think we might skip most baby food and go straight to solids.

Teeth: He has 3 teeth (2 lower and 1 upper) and is working on at least 2 more.

Clothing: He is pretty much wearing 12-18 month clothing although he does have a few 18 month items that fit him pretty well.

On-the-move: He’s mastered crawling and is pretty quick. He can also pull himself to standing and is just starting to cruise although he’s not that confident.

Sleep: Simon still sleeps in our room simply because we have yet to bite the bullet at making Jude and Noah share a room. We have Simon’s crib set up in the corner of our room and he seems pretty content there. He takes 2 naps (1 morning, 1 afternoon) and sleeps “through-the-night”. He sleeps at least 6-7 hours straight which means he wakes around 3AM or 4AM sometimes to nurse. When he wakes we just put him in the bed with us to nurse and sometimes, if I’m awake enough, I put him back in his crib. On a few occasions he will sleep through the night completely waking around 6:30 AM. Honestly, I prefer when when he wakes around 3AM and I put him back, he sleeps longer in the morning. All around I’m pretty pleased with his sleep habits. He’s typically pretty easy to put down. I nurse him in the quiet of the room then put him down sleepy but not yet asleep. When I place him in the crib he rolls over, cuddles his blanket and falls asleep. He doesn’t often cry unless he’s overtired or has gas in his belly.

Play: He’s in full out discovery mode. He crawls all around and under furniture checking out every little nook and cranny. He also puts every in his mouth, so we’re very cautious about all the little things that litter our floor.

Overall he’s a very fun-loving little boy and I’m cherishing every little one-on-one moment I get with him.

Simon joins the family at the dinner table.

Simon is 6 months old and he’s ready to join the family dinner table.

And this shall be his throne….

Over the past few years we’ve tried several different types of high chairs and I haven’t really like any of them, until now. I got the Keekaroo Height Right high chair from Magic Beans and so far I’m loving it. The main reason I like this chair is the simplistic design and that it’s easy to clean. My boys are notoriously messy eaters and I absolutely HATE cleaning the high chair. With most high chairs food gets caught in all the nooks and crannies and it grosses me out. The Keekaroo has very few nooks or crannies so the likely hood of food getting stuck is small.

The Keekaroo also grows with my child, so Simon can use it from infancy until adulthood, which makes the financial investment totally worth it.

I really like the infant insert so I don’t have to worry about him slipping or sliding around in the seat. The seamless insert is easy to clean, waterproof and contains no latex or BPA. The infant insert is removable so when he gets larger we we can just use the straps to keep him in the seat. The only down side of this chair is that you have to use 2 hands to remove the tray, which can be a bit challenging when you’re holding a baby to put in the high chair. But overall, I give this chair 2 thumbs up.

We have owned several different high chairs which I end up hating because they are just too complicated. I hate that we wasted so much money on sub-par products when we could have paid a little more for a high-quality item that would last a long time.

Simon takes his place at the big table and I think he likes it!

Magic Beans provided me with a gift card to purchase a product of my choice from their site. After much deliberation I selected the Keekaroo High Chair but it was a tough decision since Magic Beans has such a great selection of high-quality baby items.

Mr. Grabby likes to pull hair and socks off his feet.
He’s a chubby bowl full of giggles and loves everything except getting his hair pulled by Noah.

Simon Edward – 3 Months

Simon is 3 months old and I really love this age.

simon 3mo4

He is discovering himself and the world around him and it’s fascinating to watch him grow.

Weight: 16.5 lbs

I’m getting ready to switch our his 3mo clothes for the 6mo lot. He so long all of his pants are too short.

He is still 100% breastfeed and he eats like a champ.

He sleeps with us and usually only wakes up once during the night to eat, sometimes twice but overall he’s a great sleeper. He takes about 3 naps a day, usually in the swing in our bedroom to keep him safe from the big boys and their shenanigans.

Simon can ROLL OVER – from his back to his belly. He’s not sure what to do once he gets there and he’s not too thrilled with being on his belly but he’s a rolly boy.

He has awesome head control and enjoys spending time in the Bumbo (properly place on the floor I might add)

He has a beautiful smile and contagious laugh. I am absolutely smitten when he initiates a smile toward me, smitten I tell you, smitten.

He loves his big brothers, they make him laugh all the time… they also make him cry when they get a little too rough with him.

Simon is such a sweet boy and I love him dearly.
