I’ve just started to get back into workout post-Simon. Having already lost almost 15lbs since his birth I know that exercise it important if I want to wear my old pre-pregnancy clothes. (And when I say pre-pregnancy I mean before I ever had ANY kids.)
I’m currently going to the gym 3 days a week and trying to fit in a few at home fitness routines on the other days. Weather I’m going to the gym or working out in my living room having supportive and fitting workout clothes are a must. Here are a few of my favorite post-baby exercise items.
I like to start with a good pair of shoes. Personally, I’m a big fan of Asics but you should choose a shoe that is designed for whatever exercise you intend to do regularly and one that fits your foot well.
Sports Bras are a biggie and I’m not just saying that because I’m well endowed. Your ladies need support when your running, walking, doing Zumba or lifting weights. There are even Nursing Sports Bras available so you can easily stop to feed baby if needed.
I sweat when I run. Weird, I know right? I have to either wear a lightweight shirt or tank top so I don’t become a hot sweaty mess before I’ve even hit the halfway mark of my exercise.
Compression workout pants prevent muscle strain and fatigue, and wick sweat away from the body to prevent chafing and rashes. I prefer higher waist workout pants to hold in my post-baby tummy while I workout.
You know for the walk from your car to the gym, so you can stay warm but still look sporty. Plus if you want to exercise outside you won’t freeze.
I love my Camelbak water bottle but really any water bottle will do. You will need to stay hydrated, especially if you are breastfeeding.
It’s always nice to have a good bag, yoga mat (if you’re into yoga), sports watch, athletic socks (compression socks are great if you want to run) and headband.
The main key to selecting clothes to wear when exercising is to try them on before you buy. You want to make sure they are comfortable and offer you a full range of motion. Looking stylish is just an added bonus.
