Things I’m Loving

I’m not a really trendy gal but I have style preferences, they might not always fit in with what is currently on-trendy but I like it so that is all that really matters.

I’ve decided to make a little collection of a few things I’ve been crushing on lately. Some of them are things I own, some are things I want to own, none of them are sponsored.

  1. Vertex Earring from Ash Jewelry – I just ordered these and they should be arriving at my house sometime today! I love the simplicity and uniqueness of these earring and pretty much everything else from Ash Jewelry.

2. Felted Soap from Good JuJu Herbal – I just ordered this too so I haven’t tried it yet, but I love the idea of felted soap and I really love the ingredients. All of the ingredients are 100% natural. Also check out the dead sea clay face mask!

3. Azure Necklace from the Flourish Market – I bought this as a birthday present for myself and I love it. It’s from Purpose Jewelry and is handcrafted with love by young women rescued from sex trafficking in Mumbai, India.

4. Lilyette by Bali Women’s Minimizer Bra – If you are well endowed this is a great bra for a great price! I own this bra in 2 different colors and plan on buying a few more.

5. Women’s Cap Sleeve Knit Front Woven Back Tee by Jillian Nicole – This shirt has been hanging out in my Target cart for a few days, I just need to go ahead and pull the trigger right.

6. Glossier Boy Brow – This is my number 1 make up pick right now. It’s just perfection.

Like I said, none of this is sponsored these are all things I bought or am seriously considering purchasing.

How I style my Chewbeads

Ok, so I will wear a teething necklace for my baby with just about anything but sometimes you want your teething necklace to coordinate with your daily outfits. (You can add that sentence to things only a mom would say!)

I think the key  to easily incorporating a Chewbeads teething necklace is to select a design that compliments the majority of your wardrobe. You see, I wear a lot of blues, blacks, gray and green with the occasional pink so I selected the Essex teething necklace in grey because grey is a neutral. It also has lovely accents of blue, green and white which makes it easy for me to wear it with almost anything hanging in my closet.

Like, today I’m wearing it with a simple black t-shirt. I love how my teething necklace adds a pop of color to my otherwise drab outfit and dresses it up… even though my jewelry is designed to be drooled and chewed on!

I decided to create my ultimate fall outfit for a mom with a teething baby to show you how easy it is to incorporate Chewbeads into almost any everyday outfit.

Styling a Teething Necklace

Not only are Chewbeads fashionable but babies love to chew on them. Abel has 1 tooth and is working on a few more and he is constantly chewing on my Chewbeads necklace.
If you have a teething baby I highly recommend purchasing a Chewbeads teething necklace. Chewbeads have been around since 2009 and are made with 100% silicone products. They contain No BPA, Phthalates, lead, cadium, or metal. The necklaces are also dishwasher safe so you can keep germs away.

Back-to-School with Zulily

We started school this week and I’m so excited. I love the start of the school year, the smell of new school supplies and the renewed excitement my children have for learning. Being a busy mom to 4 little boys means I don’t have a ton of time to do all of our back to school shopping so I try to shop online whenever possible.

zulily back to school

I love shopping on zulily. I log in to zulily everyday to see what kind of deals they have for our family. Over the past few months I’ve bought school shoes for the boys, a few school supplies for homeschooling, and a new pair running shoes for myself.

I’m currently keeping an eye out for some great fall clothes for the boys but before I start my shopping I decided to consult zulily’s kid’s fashion expert, Shawn Anderson on How To Save During Back to School Shopping.

How To Save During Back to School Shopping

To prepare your kids to head back into the classroom, zulily kids fashion expert Shawn Anderson recommends:

  • Plan in advance: Don’t wait until August 15 to start your back to school preparation. Avoid the stress of last-minute shopping by getting started now and finish before all the good deals are gone.
  • Get organized: Pull together a back to school checklist so you don’t forget any of the necessities.
  • Shop online: Sites like zulily.com offer parents a wide variety of back to school essentials for kids, including clothes, shoes, accessories, supplies and toys, at incredible prices. You can find everything your kid needs (and more!) and save money at the same time.
  • Stockpile your favorite items at a discount: When you find something your child loves and needs each year for school at a great price, be sure to buy a few extra. Take advantage of these deals for years to come!
  • Check in with the kids: It is never a good feeling to buy your child new clothes and school supplies, only to find out that their favorite color or cartoon character has changed. Involve your kids in the shopping process so you make sure you’re buying items they like and want to use.

To make online shopping easier zulily has an easy to use app for Android and iPhone devices so you can shop while you’re on the go. The highlights of the app include:

  • Educational Tutorial – after first installing, users are displayed a brief, informative tutorial on how to use the new application.
  • “New Today” Event Accessibility – a clear, easily accessible layout displays a customer’s personalized list of “New Today” events directly through the application.
  • Personalization – zulily has built upon its proprietary personalization technology to create a completely individualized homepage view, from top to bottom. The app learns customer’s preferences and then features the most relevant sales events and information front and center for quick, meaningful shopping.
  • Daily Refreshment of New Events – the shopping platform refreshes every morning at 6 a.m. for customers to shop newly curated events.
  • “Bookmarked” Favorites – while browsing zulily’s events, customers have the ability to select favorites and “bookmark” for easy access.  A “bookmark” ribbon will be displayed on the watch application and instantly synced with the “New Today” tab on the existing iPhone application. This feature allows shoppers to easily customize events to shop at a later time on the iPhone app.

I cut my long hair and gave it away.

My hair grows extremely fast when I’m pregnant. Even though I got my hair cut when I was pregnant with Abel it had quickly returned that unbearable length… when it get caught under my armpit I know it’s too long.

So after weeks of complaining I finally broke down and schedule a hair appointment. When I told the hair stylist how short I wanted it (I point to above my shoulders) she suggested I donated it. I’ve never thought of donating my hair. Honestly, I never thought I’d have enough hair to donate… when I was younger I kept it pretty short and it didn’t grow as fast.

Why not? If I plan on cutting off a substantial amount of hair I might as well do it right so someone else can benefit. Apparently, you have to follow specific steps to ensure that they will accept the hair you donate.

I cut off about a foot of hair which I have donated to the Pantene Beautiful Lengths program which donates free wigs to the American Cancer Society’s wig bank.

Now I feel great… I have a short and much more manageable hair style and I donated to a great cause.

All-Day with Rockport Total Motion #PoweredbyHeels

Wearing heels while pregnant isn’t something that sounds appealing to me. The added weight of a baby and keeping up with 3 busy little boys typically pushes me to wear the most comfortable pair of shoes I can find. However, I recently checked out the Total Motion line from Rockport and found that heels can actually be comfortable, even when you’re pregnant.
Rockport Stretch Boot

Rockport Total Motion Stretch Boot

The Rockport Total Motion line is delivers ultimate flexibility and support without compromising style. The ADIPRENE® by adidas sport technology allow you to maintain your style all day long. The Total Motion Stretch Boot is perfect for fall with it’s full foot contact and support chasing children through the pumpkin patch never looked or felt so good.

Honestly, I was a little hesitant wearing a boot with a heel all day but once I put on the Total Motion Stretch Boots I could tell I would be comfortable no matter where life took me. The Rockport Total Motion Stretch Boot was easy to put on but maybe not so easy to take off once you’re fairly far along in pregnancy, but hey that’s what husband’s are for. Plus you won’t need to take them off often because they are super comfy. I was able to chase my boys around the park, play trains, visit the doctor, shopping, cook dinner and all the other demands of my busy mom life without a second thought to what was on my feet.

Back-to-School with Carter’s Fall Style

cartersfall4

School starts in just a few weeks which means back-to-school shopping. Jude has to wear a uniform to school so I don’t have to think too much about his daily outfits but he does need non-school fall clothes.

I’ve always been a fan of Carter’s clothing for my babies and toddlers, after all they are the largest branded marketer of young children’s apparel in the US. They are a trusted brand by moms everywhere and now Carter’s is expanding their line of clothing to fit up to size 12.

Their new 2014 fall line offers the quality and affordable clothing you come to expect from Carter’s but with a very fashion forward approach that kids and moms will love. cartersfall2

Some of the hot trends that Carter’s is offering for this fall season are:

  • Activewear – Fun graphics, Mesh fabric shorts, comfortable play wear and more.
  • Camo – for both boys and girls. Easy to mix with other patterns and styles.
  • Tomboy Chic – mix and match camo and sparkles, military style with vintage florals.
  • Vintage Prints – smaller, sweeter graphics.
  • Fresh Plaids – new and fresh colors.

Because Jude’s school uniform is pretty standard and let’s be honest, boring, I wanted to bring some fun and color into his weekend/evening wardrobe. Carter’s has a lot of fun and bright colors for fall. I was tempted to buy some bright red pants for Jude but he really loves blue hues so I started with a bluish gray pant (Skinny Fit Stretch Twill Jeans). From there I added a bright tee with wolf graphic (Hand-Drawn Wolf Graphic Tee) for some fun and layered it with a military style jacket with a hint of camo (Ripstop Cargo Jacket).

cartersfall1

Jude loves the wolf tee and thought the military jacket was way cool. Even though the pants are a skinny fit they were still to big in the waist for my slender 6 year old but thankfully they have the adjustable waist straps they they don’t fall off. I know he will eventually grow into them.

Thank Your MOM #YoureDoingOKMom #ad

It wasn’t until I became a mother that I fully appreciated all of the amazing things my own mother did for me.

Spending endless nights trying to sooth my colic belly.
Waking up early to take us to school every day.
Spending her hard earned money on my new school shoes.
….

thanks mom

Now that I’m a mom I see all of the sacrifices she made and understand just how challenging motherhood is. There are no rewards for wiping runny noses or pushing the swings higher. The acts of motherhood often go unnoticed.

I hope that my children see that I’m trying my hardest to do what’s best for them and sometimes I fail. I make mistakes just like everyone else but I what to own up to my mistakes so they see I’m just like everyone else, I just love them far greater than anyone.

Motherhood is a journey that is unique to each woman but one thing is certain, I will never be able to fully express just how much I appreciate all that my own mom has done for me.

Thanks Mom!

Style this: Abstract Batwing Cardigan

Spring is lurking at the door and if winter ever decides to go home we will be wearing sandals and sunhats in no time. But right now there is this in between weather where the days are long and sunny but the air is still cool and crisp. I don’t know how the weather is where you live but in North Carolina I can be wearing flip flops and a tee one day then boots and a thick sweater the next so when I’m putting together my wardrobe versatile layers are key.

I’m really loving cardigans right now. Cardigans allow you to easily dress up an outfit and provide an extra layer for warmth. This Modern Style Abstract Pattern Batwing Sleeve Knit Cardigan from Sammydress is an affordable way to spice up your spring wardrobe.

Style this: Abstract Batwing Cardigan

My style on this cold March day:

sammydress This sweater comes in one size. One the model above the sweater looks pretty big with long sleeves and a lot of extra fabric. On me it still fits well just differently than the tiny model. Most noticeably the sleeves are more of a 3/4 sleeve on me, I guess I’m just that super tall.

At $13.36 this cardigan isn’t made from the finest wool but it is made pretty well and at that price I can’t complain. I find it’s better to buy more affordable trendy items like this sweater and then invest a little more money in high quality timeless pieces.

Overall this is a very fun sweater and I hope the weather stays cool just a little bit longer so I can wear it a few more times before the summer heat arrives.

How would YOU style this sweater?
