Noodle & Boo Review

My all time favorite baby wash is the Noodle & Boo Soothing Body Wash. I’ve used it on all of my boys and I absolutely love it. Most recently I’ve tried some of their moisturizing and protecting products like the Super Soft Lotion ,Ultimate Ointment, and Baby Balm.

Noodle and Boo Lotions

The Super Soft Lotion is made with a sweet almond oil and vitamins E and V. The natural formula hydrates and protects to most delicate skin. It is also Hypoallergenic and clinically tested for sensitive skin. My boys typically have sensitive skin so I’m very conservative with which products I use on them and I love this Super Soft Lotion.

The Ultimate Ointment is great for treating a variety of skin issues that effect babies such as cradle cap, eczema, diaper rash and more. The Ultimate Ointment creates a moisture repellent barrier between the skin and sources of irritation to help enhance the healing process. It’s fragrance and preservative free and is also hypoallergenic for sensitive skin.

The Baby Balm is an ultra thick cream that provides long lasting moisture care for dry, chapped or chafed skin. The addition of calendula provides natural soothing and comforting properties for irritated skin.

Noodle & Boo uses the best natural ingredients that are created to be gentle on baby’s sensitive skin.

Noodle & Boo products are available at Nordstrom, Saks Fifth Avenue, Lord & Taylor, Neiman Marcus, Von Maur, and

Premium Care from Pampers #MothersPromise

I’ve been diapering babies on and off for the past 7 years so I consider myself to be fairly knowledgeable when it comes to diapers. While I’ve always been a fan of Pampers I am truly impressed with their newest product, Pampers Premium Care Diapers.

Pampers Premium Care Diapers

For the past week or so I’ve been using Pampers Premium Care Diapers on Abel and they are magical. We haven’t had nearly as many blow out diapers as previously. That’s because the new Premium diapers have extra absorbent channels that help distribute wetness evenly for up to 12 hours of protection. They also have an absorb away liner which pulls wetness and mess away from baby’s skin. Not to mention the very useful blue line that indicates when baby has a wet diaper. All of these great features add up to create a high quality diaper.

Not only are these highly effective diapers they are ultra soft and comfortable feeling. They are made with a breathable material designed to keep air circulating around baby’s skin. The diapers are so soft the almost feel like cloth.

There are several different playful designs that subtlety decorate the diapers.

I’m totally sold on Pampers Premium Care Diapers.

The new Pampers Premium Care Diaper will be available for purchase at Walmart stores later this month.

The Truth About Transitioning from 3 to 4 Kids

3 to 4 kids

I’ve had several people ask me how the transition is from 3 to 4 kids. The truth is, I don’t think there is a simple answer to this question.

Before I became pregnant with Abel a read an article “Mom survey says: Three is the most stressful number of kids” so when I became pregnant with number 4 I hoped that it would be an easy transition. It wasn’t.

Screen Shot 2015-05-15 at 8.39.48 AM

The switch from 2 to 3 kids wasn’t terrible but it was still a transition.

In all honesty, I’m finding this transition from 3 to 4 kids to be almost as difficult as 0 to 1 (which I think was the hardest). But before you decide that 4 kids is too many for your family let me remind you that I can only speak for my experience. And the main reason I think this transition has been the hardest for me is the age difference of my children. If the boys had been a little older I might have a different opinion but as it were having 4 small children is tough. A 6 year old (who is somewhat independent but still needs guidance), a 3 year old and 2 year old (both of whom still need a lot of attention and help) and a newborn has proven to be a challenge for me. Add in our unexpected homeschool adventure, potty training, switching cribs for beds and so on… life has been pretty crazy the past few months.

I love my 4 boys and because they are all so close in age they are quickly becoming best friends but this transitional phase has been tough. We knew it would be a challenge and thankfully were able to hire a mother’s helper for a short while. The past few months we’ve been in survival mode. Eventually, we’ll find a rhythm that work and our family will thrive instead of just survive.

Tell me, if you have multiple children do you think certain transitions were easier than others?

Abel James – 3 months

I’ve been sick… again with strep throat so I haven’t been keeping up with dates and such so Abel turned 3 months a few days ago and I totally missed it.

Well the big news is that Abel can now roll over. He’s not a big fan of being on his tummy and doesn’t really know what to do when he gets there but he can roll over. He usually rolls right since at night I sleep to his right and that is where he knows he will most likely find milk. Clever boy.

His brothers are still his biggest fans.

He belly laughs and it’s amazing.

He’ sleeps and eats and poops and that pretty much sums up life for Abel right now.

MAM Spring Collection Giveaway

All of my babies have loved their MAM pacifiers. Just recently Noah gave up his pacifier, it was an emotional event, for me. I love MAM pacifiers because they are designed by pediatric dentists and developmental psychologies to provide maximum comfort for babies. Plus, they always have super cute designs.

Abel with his MAM Pacifier

Abel is just now getting the hang of using a pacifier, which my other boys affectionately refer to as “milkies”.

The new MAM Oral Care spring collection is adorable.

MAM pacifiers are available in an assortment of colors and design motifs, and come in two nipple options: patented anti-slip Silk Teat™ Silicone or Natural Latex.  Like all MAM products, the brand’s pacifiers are BPA-free, PVC-free, lead-free and CPSIA-Compliant.
MAM Oral Care Spring 2015

The MAM Oral Care Rabbit is designed to maintain baby’s oral hygiene before teeth arrive. The MAM Oral Care Rabbit gently removes plaque and bacteria from baby’s mouth.  Mom’s fingers tuck into the rabbit’s super soft “ears” like a glove, allowing her to gently massage and clean baby’s gums.  Regular use of the MAM Oral Care Rabbit also helps prepare baby for a regular tooth brushing routine at an early age.

Halo SwaddleSure makes bedtime easier

Abel is a pretty easy going baby but some nights getting him to sleep can be tough.  He doesn’t always like to be swaddled but on the nights when nothing seems to be helping him I wrap him in the Halo SwaddleSure and it’s like magic. He almost always falls asleep within a few minutes.

Halo SleepSack

I’m not saying it works every time but there is just something that is very comforting to him about the Halo SwaddleSure. He also sleeps more soundly when he’s wearing the SwaddleSure. In fact, I sleep more soundly when he’s wearing the swaddle too.

The Halo SwaddleSure Adjustable Swaddling Pouch is the safe, easy and secure way to keep your baby sleeping longer and more peacefully. Its innovative design with adjustable fasteners make it easy to swaddle correctly for a perfect fit every time.   Plus, its patented three-point fastening system resists “breakouts” for superior, more secure swaddling.  Its generously-sized leg pouch help baby’s hips stay in the correct, frog-like position which ensures healthy hip development and allows easy access to baby’s diaper for diaper changes.  Use over regular sleepwear to take the place of loose blankets.

I love that the SwaddleSure provides a secure and safe wrap around the arms and torso yet lets the hips and legs move freely. At first all of the different components and straps may seem overwhelming but it it actually fairly easy to use. After the first fitting you can easily adjust the fit so that baby remains comfortable all night long. I also really like that there is easy access to the bottom half for quick night time diaper changes.

Breastfeeding Breakthrough

abel 3 weeks

3 weeks old

Since we figured out that Abel was having trouble with my oversupply it was much easier for us to remedy the problem and get him nursing. I found that if I offered him the breast after I pumped a bit he had no problem latching on and didn’t become fussy afterward because he was getting plenty of the hind-milk.

After a few days of pumping a little before feeding him my milk supply started to even out and he became more proficient at latching and being able to compensate for the heavy letdown. I was able to slowly start pumping less each day and as of today he’s been 100% breastfed for over 3 days. I’m still having to pump at least once a day (usually before bed) because my supply is greater than his demand. But I am building a great freezer stash and even considering donating some to the milk bank if I can produce enough for the required donation.

I’m thrilled that he is now Exclusively Breastfed simply because it’s so much easier for me. No more pumping every. single. time. he wants to eat. No more worrying about having enough milk when we go out. No more washing pump parts and bottles. It’s just so much easier for me to be the food source at any given moment.

We’re still working out a rhythm for when he’s hungry verses needs to burp, has gas, etc… but I’m slowly learning his cues.

Levana Stella Baby Monitor Review

Contrary to popular belief amongst my children I do NOT have eyes in the back of my head. I do have a keen sense for detecting when a child is up to no good so on occasion I catch a mischievous toddler red handed doing something they aren’t allowed. But the rest of the time I rely on technology to help me keep an eye on all 4 kids.

Levana Stella

Keeping an eye on the napping toddler while holding a napping newborn.

With our recent addition of Baby Abel I find myself stuck in a chair nursing a newborn which leaves a 6 year old, 3 year old and 2 year old somewhat unattended to on occasion. However, recently installed the Levana Stella Baby Video Monitors in the boys’ rooms. Now I can keep a watchful eye on the boys, especially during nap time.

Levana Stella Monitor

The Levana Stella 2 Camera Baby Video Monitor features:

  • Touch panel pan/tilt/zoom video baby monitor
  • A powerful battery that will last up to 24 hours
  • Talk to Baby two-way intercom
  • Three soothing lullabies
  • Invisible LED night vision
  • Private ClearVu Digital Signal
  • Expandable up to 4 cameras

We had an old video monitor that we’d been using since Jude was a baby (6 years ago) and while it had some nice features the video quality was lacking and there were very limited capabilities of the camera. What I love about the Levana Stella camera is the large 4.3” monitor screen, Invisible infrared LED night vision and crisp video picture. I can clearly see what each child is doing (if they are in bed or crying).

I also really love the Talk to Baby two-way intercom. This feature is especially useful while trying to keep an active toddler in bed.

The Levana Stella Baby Video Monitor is very easy to use, just plug it in and turn it on. The features are very easy to access via the monitor. I particularly love that you can lock the monitor so little hands don’t accidentally change the settings.

We mounted our cameras to the wall opposite the boys beds to keep the wiring secure and to give us the best view of the room. The cameras are easy to adjust to scan the room. Since our boys’ rooms are small we decided to use 1 camera in each room however if the rooms were bigger we might put both cameras in 1 room to gain a better vantage of the room.

Overall, I would give the Levana Stella video monitor 2 thumbs up because it has all of the features I could possibly imagine, and then some.

The Levana Stella Video Monitor is currently on sale for $169.99 (with FREE Shipping).
