Preparing for Wild Weather and Runny Noses #SickJustGotReal

As I’m writing this I have the windows opened and we just returned from an afternoon at the park as it is currently 78 degrees outside. Yet, only a few days ago it was only 9 degrees outside and the ground was covered with ice and snow. This is the weather we get in North Carolina. This is also how my kids end up with colds so frequently during the “winter”.

Thankfully my medicine cabinet is stocked and ready with all of the children’s cold medicines we might need during this crazy North Carolina winter.

On snow days if its not too cold out we like to go sledding or build snow men. But when its too bad outside we stay in and have cocoa and watch movies.

My favorite by myself snow day activity is reading a book and drinking coffee. With my toddler it’s about 5 minutes in the snow and the rest of the day coloring while looking outside at the snow. 😉

Where I live they have not cancelled school for snow in about 7 years. It very rarely happens. When they have though, we like to go out sledding or just build a snowman in the back yard. Then it’s cuddles, hot chocolate, and movies.

The kids go skiing every chance they can get in the winter. We live in northern New Hampshire and are lucky enough to live near a few ski areas. I like to snowshoe but the kids find it to boring.

My favorite snow day activities include going outside to sled and then coming back inside where it’s warm to play board games with my grandsons.

We have a park nearby so we love sled down the hill during the winter. Building snowmen in front of the house is also lots of fun since my daughter can ‘dress’ the snowman.

We don’t have snow days here in Florida. But since it’s not sweltering outside we spend a lot of time going for bike rides!
