What’s in my Hospital Bag?

· · ·

Today I am 39 weeks pregnant which means this baby could make his big debut any day now. We are getting things ready for his arrival and for the first time I’m packing a hospital bag. After having 2 home births I was pretty clueless as to what I should pack in my bag. I asked around and I think I came up with a pretty good list.

I think most experienced moms agree that you don’t want to over-pack but you also want to bring with you some of the comforts of home.

I created this simple checklist. We keep it on the fridge so when the time comes we can grab it, make sure we have everything and go.

So what is in MY bag?

A copy of my Birth Plan, ID and Insurance information. We preregistered at the hospital so they should have all of this information on file but it’s always a good idea to have all of your information readily available.

My own Hospital Gown. I have my own Hospital Gown which I’m really looking forward to using, it’s much cuter than the typical hospital gown.

A comfortable nursing bra. I have several supportive yet comfortable enough to sleep in nursing bras like the Bravado Original nursing bra.

My own toiletries. I like using my own shampoo, deodorant, toothpaste, etc… I’m making sure to bring extra hair ties because I probably won’t get to wash my hair right away.

My Brest Friend Deluxe Pillow. I’m not sure if I’ll use this but I’d rather have it on hand than not. Establishing nursing with my last two was very difficult and I want to be prepared.

Nipple Cream. I’m sure the hospital will have lanolin available but I’ve been using the same brand for several years and have come to really like it so I’m bringing my own. I love the New Mother’s Nursing Balm.

My cell phone and charger. Of course I’ll want to update all of my social media accounts to let the world that baby Lieb is here!

Snacks – When I’m hungry I don’t want to have to wait for someone to bring me something to eat.

Cash – Always good to have on hand.

What did you or will you pack in your hospital bag?
